Week 7: The Pitch

Alright well at this point I see two options staring me in the face.

Option 1: Go with the final project everyone else is doing and come up with a brand new beer and establish it globally. What I am turning in my head is that I am firstly technically not even of age to drink beer. And technically speaking I absolutely hate every aspect of beer. The taste, the smell, and even the effects are what I just care nothing for. I am at a disadvantage but will not hesitate from the challenge.
This new beer i would want to establish is a new beer specifically for women. Not using women to sell it but sell it to them. The flavoring would definitely have to be something like raspberry or violets even, or might just be a combination of the two. Being a fashion major i realize where my target market would need to be is. This beer is going to be a luxurious experience, for women who could care less about the price, ans are mostly looking for something to complement their life.

Option 2: Lets remember that I am not of age and could care less for beer. From the moment i heard what kind of project we might have to be doing the ideas about the beauty and retail industry flooded my mind. What i would want is something new and edgy that appeals to all women who never dreamt of being the princess when we were growing up

EOC Week 5: Health Care Reform

• 85% of Americans of all races under the age of 65 are covered by some type of health insurance during the year of 2006.
• Nationally there are less than three thousand people of a certain age that will not be covered by some type of health insurance.

While there might be many people that are currently covered by various forms of medical care there are just as many if not more people that go everyday without health insurance for some reason or other. I was one of the people whose health insurance was cut off at 18 and for some reason or other am not covered by other insurances. Most likely because of pre existing conditions.Should those people who can not afford health care go without it simply because they cant afford it or are currently unemployed by the downward spiral the economy fell into. No. I have gone without medical insurance.

These numbers seem to be esily pulled from any census available or generally a survey. Honestly, it seems that if that is the case it most certainly is not very reliable.

EOC Week 4: Advertising is based on Happiness

Happiness- CoverGirl mascara lash blast or something. Heard a lot about it and since its something that has to be replaced every month or so I had to buy something inexpensive and with good quality. I spent a long time trying out different types of mascara from different companies. Talked with makeup artists or other girls who have the same issues with mascara, how most don’t work for my lashes. Saw makeup reviews online and such. In the end I saw an advertisement and I love most covergirl products so I might as well try. Turned out to be the best mascara for me, quite better than department store mascaras that can run up to $30 each tube. For $7, that is easy to take off, waterproof, and makes my lashes look amazing I will always buy this particular mascara.

Dissonance- also known as buyer’s remorse is something I am not a stranger to. The biggest remorse I get is usually from very expensive items that don’t come through with the promises they make. The most recent situation in which I experienced this was when I bought a dooney and bourke bag from the d&b store. Not only was it expensive but I noticed right away that the stitching was done terribly. The material has a cheap feel to it. Of course they are known for the rainbow zipper and that would’ve been great if it had not broken. The leather on the strap soon became worn. The white part of the bag which is the majority became yellowed and was nothing I could do about it. Even if I were to just forget about the bag and look for another one I will definitely stay away from Dooney & Bourke store and some of the more expensive purses.

EOC Week 3: Internet Privacy vs. Marketing Research

Somehow in the last few years we as a society have grown to the point where we no longer have watches to tell time, actual camera's outside of our phone, and now everyone seems to have multiple profiles on facebook and twitter. On social networking sites such as twitter and facebook we seem to put out all of our personal information for all to see.
Facebook is definitely a great example of this as they recently have admitted that some of the games played on their website had been sending out people's user id's to advertising networks.
Now as we all know by pop ups, it is not uncommon for these kinds of websites to somehow sell information. How do we know this? by the sidebar advertisements that somehow know exactly who theyr appear to. Or is it such a coincidence that they all just happen to be targeted at you!?!
Some social networking sites bend their own policies as was the case with facebook. Their privacy policy seems to be secure enough but in the fine print you see that they technically only keep some things private but can also choose not to. How can we just keep agreeing to these policies? Simply put we just do not seems to care in anyway because we enjoy connecting with friends and constantly talk about ourselves. Yes, anything to nurture our ego's.

EOC Week 2: Growth Matrix

The cash cow I think is definitely the Nintendo Wii.The dog seems to be the Xbox.The star might be the Playstation3.and the question marks seems to be CellPhones like the Iphone for example.

Some of my reasoning comes from me just reading statisctics and what exactly the different video companies that are mentioned throughtout this article. "Analysts expect Sony to cut the price on its PS3 by about $100 this year, leading to price cuts by Microsoft on some of its Xbox 360 models. The PS3 starts at about $400, compared with the equivalent Xbox 360, which costs about $300. Though Nintendo has said it won't cut prices on its $250 Wii this year, it is expected to do so indirectly by bundling games with the console."
To me the resoning with that comes from the Nintendo companies not lowering their price at all, Sony lowering the price by one hundred dollars on something like the PS3, which seems to still be one of the most coveted game consoles. But thats ny reasoning as to why the PS3 is the star. While Xbox is definitely the dog with being one of the least liked game console.
The question mark is definitely to me the question mark just because everyone is keeping their eye on the cellphone companies to see what theyll be coming out with and how exactly to keep up or react to those companies.

EOC Week 1: My Voice

As a Fashion & Retail Management professional I am very comfortable in the Fashion world. I have always been drawn into it. Even though I am most definitely not a fashion designer I feel that my success is in the business side of this world. I have studied the history of fashion and am completely awestruck at how far it has come and how it has come back. Witnessing this has only furthered my desire to work at store like Neiman Marcus. Many people don’t realize what a buyers or stylists really do. Buyers sometimes work as forecasters for their specific stores or departments, searching for what will be sold there from vendors or fashion shows and always keeping in mind what their customers want. I love what a buyer does, even if sometimes it isn’t glamorous most of the time. To be a buyer you must be in high paced industry, be creative, and be flexible. Traveling, forecasting, fashion history, and even mathematics, which are some of the things that most draw me into this career, play a major role. The high paced fashion industry brought out my confidence and I feel that with my knowledge and desire for this industry motivates me to drive this industry to a completely new level.
